What You'll Own
As an AI Automation Engineer at ByteForth, you'll be responsible for designing, building, and deploying intelligent automation systems that leverage modern AI capabilities. You'll work across the full stack of automation—from workflow orchestration and API integrations to embedding large language models and computer vision into production pipelines.
You'll collaborate with our engineering team to identify automation opportunities, architect solutions that scale, and continuously improve our automation infrastructure. This isn't about maintaining legacy systems—it's about building the next generation of intelligent automation from the ground up.
Key Responsibilities
- ▹Design and implement AI-powered automation workflows using Python, n8n, Make, Zapier, or custom orchestration frameworks that solve real business problems
- ▹Integrate modern AI APIs and models including OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini, Hugging Face, and open-source LLMs into production automation pipelines
- ▹Build and maintain robust API integrations connecting diverse SaaS platforms, databases, and internal systems into cohesive automated workflows
- ▹Develop intelligent agents and chatbots that handle customer interactions, data processing, or internal operations with minimal human intervention
- ▹Implement monitoring, logging, and error handling to ensure automation reliability and quick troubleshooting when issues arise
- ▹Optimize workflow performance and cost efficiency, especially when working with API-based AI services that charge per token or request
- ▹Document automation architectures and workflows to enable team collaboration and knowledge transfer across the organization
- ▹Stay current with AI and automation tooling, evaluating new technologies and recommending adoption when they provide clear value
What We Look For
- ▹2+ years of hands-on experience building automation workflows or software engineering with a focus on system integration
- ▹Strong Python programming skills with experience in popular automation libraries (requests, selenium, beautifulsoup) and frameworks
- ▹Proven experience with AI APIs and LLMs, including prompt engineering, embeddings, function calling, and understanding model limitations
- ▹Deep familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, and authentication patterns (OAuth, API keys, JWT) for integrating third-party services
- ▹Experience with at least one workflow automation platform such as n8n, Make, Zapier, Temporal, or Airflow
- ▹Understanding of data structures, JSON/XML parsing, and data transformation techniques for moving information between systems
- ▹Strong problem-solving abilities to debug complex multi-system workflows and identify root causes of automation failures
- ▹Excellent written communication skills for documenting workflows and explaining technical decisions to non-technical stakeholders
Nice-to-Haves
- ▹Experience with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, ChromaDB) and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) architectures
- ▹Familiarity with containerization (Docker) and deployment platforms (Render, Railway, fly.io) for hosting automation services
- ▹Background in data engineering, ETL pipelines, or business intelligence tooling
- ▹Knowledge of computer vision APIs or OCR for document processing automation
- ▹Open-source contributions or personal projects demonstrating automation or AI integration skills
