Role Overview
As a Senior Systems Engineer at ByteForth, you'll own critical infrastructure components that keep our applications running smoothly and securely. You'll work closely with our engineering teams to design and implement scalable systems architecture, automate deployment workflows, and ensure our platforms maintain 99.9%+ uptime even as we handle unpredictable AI workloads.
You'll have full autonomy to choose the right tools and approaches, collaborate with top-tier engineers who value technical excellence, and build systems that are both powerful and elegant. Key Responsibilities
- ▹Design, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure (AWS, GCP, or Azure) that supports AI model training, inference, and real-time automation workflows
- ▹Build and optimize container orchestration systems using Kubernetes or similar platforms, ensuring efficient resource utilization and auto-scaling capabilities
- ▹Develop infrastructure as code using Terraform, Ansible, Pulumi, or similar tools to enable reproducible, version-controlled deployments
- ▹Monitor system performance, identify bottlenecks, and implement proactive solutions that improve reliability, speed, and cost-efficiency
- ▹Implement comprehensive security practices including access control, encryption, vulnerability scanning, and compliance monitoring
- ▹Collaborate with engineering teams to design CI/CD pipelines that enable rapid, safe deployment of applications and AI models
- ▹Manage database systems (PostgreSQL, MongoDB, Redis, vector databases) with focus on performance optimization, backup strategies, and disaster recovery
- ▹Document architecture decisions, create runbooks, and establish best practices that enable the entire team to work more effectively
What We Look For
- ▹5+ years of hands-on experience managing production Linux systems and cloud infrastructure at scale
- ▹Expert-level proficiency with at least one major cloud platform (AWS, GCP, or Azure) including networking, compute, storage, and managed services
- ▹Strong experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, ECS, or similar)
- ▹Proven track record implementing infrastructure as code and configuration management tools
- ▹Deep understanding of networking fundamentals including TCP/IP, DNS, load balancing, CDNs, and VPNs
- ▹Experience with monitoring and observability tools (Prometheus, Grafana, ELK stack, DataDog, or similar)
- ▹Solid scripting skills in Python, Bash, or Go for automation and tooling
- ▹Strong problem-solving abilities and comfort working independently in a remote environment
Nice-to-Haves
- ▹Experience managing infrastructure for ML/AI workloads including GPU clusters and model serving platforms
- ▹Familiarity with service mesh technologies (Istio, Linkerd) and advanced Kubernetes patterns
- ▹Background in security engineering, penetration testing, or compliance frameworks
- ▹Contributions to open-source infrastructure or DevOps projects
- ▹Experience with multi-region deployments and global traffic management
